Local memory
How AgenKit builds a deterministic on-machine codebase index so agents query file:line pointers instead of re-reading the whole repo.
Local memory lives under .agenkit/memory/. MEMORY.md is a short human map; codemap.json is the machine index (gitignored). Building the index is local and LLM-free.
The Context Engineer maintains this map during Phase 0 Orient and whenever memory drifts. That keeps Claude Code, Cursor, and other harnesses from burning tokens on repeated directory walks.
Automatic during /agenkit
Phase 0 Orient builds or refreshes memory. Rules nudge agents to query memory before opening files, even outside /agenkit.
