Test-driven development with Claude Code

Use the Test Engineer agent and /agenkit build phase to keep RED-GREEN-REFACTOR discipline in Claude Code projects.

Tests as the contract

The plan phase lists exact files and behaviors. The Test Engineer writes failing tests first so implementation cannot drift from the spec.

Where it lives in /agenkit

Build runs in an isolated worktree with frequent commits. Review blocks on critical findings until fixed.

Tips for Claude Code sessions

Keep the approved plan file open and point the model at specific test files. When a test passes, commit before asking for the next behavior so you can bisect failures quickly.

If context grows large, start a fresh session with only the plan path and the failing test output—the Test Engineer agent is designed to continue from those artifacts.
